He was born in 1960. He graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture Department of Soil Science in 1985. He started to work as a researcher at Şanlıurfa Rural Services Research Institute in the same year. He worked as a director in an agriculture corporation in Ceyhan-Adana in 1986. He worked as a research assistant at Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture Department of Soil Science in 1987 and at Hohenheim University in 1988. He completed his doctorate between 1990-1994 at Reading University in England. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor in 1996, Associate Professor in 1997 and Professor in 2002 at Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition where he continues to work as a researcher and a lecturer.

His fields of study are plant nutrition, biological productivity, mycorrhiza and soil atmosphere relationships. His recent work is on mycorrhiza carbon fixation. He conducted 24 TÜBİTAK projects, 6 COST projects within the framework of the European Union, 3 State Planning Organization projects, 1 Ministry of Agriculture research project and 27 projects for Çukurova University.

He published 426 articles, conference presentations and book chapters on his field of work. Moreover, he has approximately 800 opinion, discussion, research and compilation articles on soil, environment, humanity, education and university problems. He has special interest in problems in education, national and international improvement of the quality of education.

He has been serving as a member of ZAK since June 2015
